The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, announced today on World Mental Health Day that they will partner with Rhyme to change the team’s name to the “Wisconsin BEHERD” to support suicide prevention awareness for the game on Friday, December 15. The Herd will wear one-of-a-kind “Wisconsin BEHERD” jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit NAMI Oshkosh. The organization provides education, support and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.
“We are proud to announce our Wisconsin BEHERD platform in partnership with Rhyme,” said Team President Steve Brandes. “Our hope for the event is to bring attention to an important initiative by showing everyone they are not alone, and our community stands together to support those who may be struggling.”
During the game, the Herd will wear specialty Wisconsin BEHERD jerseys featuring different shades of teal and purple which are the main colorways of suicide prevention. The jersey pays homage to the Van Gogh painting “Les Irises” with irises covering the jersey which is used as a symbol of hope, courage and recovery for individuals and their families living with mental illness. Some other elements of the jersey include the suicide prevention awareness ribbon in the top corner, 988 featured on the belt of the shorts which is the suicide/crisis lifeline and the phrase “You are not alone” is embedded in the jersey as a reminder to those who may be struggling that there is support available.
“I am thrilled to announce our partnership with the Wisconsin Herd for the upcoming 'BEHERD' night. This event embodies the spirit of community, compassion, and collaboration, as we come together to support a cause close to our hearts – mental health,” said Rhyme Director of Sales & Marketing Kendall Steinhoff. “At Rhyme, we believe in the power of unity and the positive impact we can create when we work together. 'BEHERD' is not just a night of basketball; it's a night of hope, healing, and humanity. We are proud to stand with the Wisconsin Herd and NAMI Oshkosh in the mission to raise funds and awareness for mental health initiatives. In the game of life, it's essential that we have each other's backs. Together, we can be the change, and together, we can make a difference. Join us Friday, December 15, where we’ll raise funds for NAMI Oshkosh and share in creating a brighter, more compassionate future.”
These jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting NAMI Oshkosh at the game on December 15 and online at https://wisconsinbeherd.givesmart.com starting on December 15, 2023, until December 22, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. CST.
