SERVICE TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE

The Service Technician Apprentice will participate in the Service Technician Apprenticeship program with the goal of becoming a full time Field Service Technician. They will learn skills in multiple areas including customer service, professionalism, electronics, mechanical repair, xerography and IT. Skills will be taught using a combination of online vendor provided training, in person observation, hands on, ride along's and mentoring. 

The Service Technician Apprenticeship program contains 4 phases lasting about 4 weeks each.  The candidate must demonstrate competency in each phase before progressing to the next. Starting wage is $15.00 per hour.

After passing the fourth phase the candidate will be considered an entry level Field Service Technician that is responsible for maintaining the functionality of clients’ copiers and printers in the field. The Technician must be able to resolve mechanical, electrical, and networking issues to repair machines as well as perform regular maintenance to keep machines functioning properly. The majority of these responsibilities are performed at the client site and require the Technician to provide exceptional customer service and operate professionally and independently. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to earn $18.00 per hour plus participate in two different bonus compensation programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Travel to client locations to complete repairs, preventative maintenance, and training while providing excellent customer service.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues on office equipment at client locations and facilities.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventative maintenance on every call to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
• Document actions performed on equipment and parts installed by thoroughly and accurately entering data into the information system.
• Communicate with Dispatcher and utilize information systems to plan and organize daily service calls.
• Maintain parts inventory by reporting parts used and verifying receipt of proper restock.
• Complete all internal and manufacturer training as assigned, and remain current with service bulletins and pertinent service information, including new firmware and procedures.
• Devote overtime hours to assist the Setup Technician with machine set ups, as necessary and required.

EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Continued education in technical or mechanical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills
• Desire to learn
• Customer Service Skills
• Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
• Ability to be flexible and quickly adjust with changing demands of the job.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Previous experience in a related field utilizing IT, or electromechanical skillset (preferred).
• Experience working on Xerox, Sharp, HP, Kyocera, and/or wide format equipment (preferred).
• A+ certification (preferred).
