As of June 29, 2026, PaperCut v26 is available. This release includes updates to authentication, security, and Print Deploy that make it easier to manage users and support newer devices.
If you're planning to upgrade, here's a quick overview of the most notable changes in PaperCut v26, along with a few things to review before getting started.
PaperCut v26 introduces a redesigned authentication experience that allows users to sign in once and stay authenticated across the Admin interface, Print Deploy, and the User Client.
For users, this means fewer login prompts throughout the day. For administrators, it creates a more consistent authentication process by maintaining a single authenticated session across the platform.
PaperCut v26 also introduces support for SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) 2.0 authentication, allowing organizations to integrate PaperCut with Identity Providers (IdPs) such as Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and PingFederate.
This provides a more consistent sign-in experience while allowing organizations to use the security features already available through their Identity Provider, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). If your organization already uses SAML for other applications, this update makes it easier to extend that same authentication experience to PaperCut.
As more organizations add ARM-based Windows devices alongside Intel and AMD systems (x64), PaperCut v26 expands Print Deploy to better support mixed hardware environments.
Print Deploy can now:
These updates help reduce the manual work involved in deploying print queues across different types of devices.
One important change in PaperCut v26 is that PaperCut completes the sunset of legacy embedded platforms. As part of this update, embedded device types that have reached end of support will be disabled by default during the upgrade. If your environment includes these legacy device types, you'll be prompted during the upgrade to acknowledge that they will be disabled by default.
Before upgrading, it's worth taking a few minutes to review your print environment and determine whether any of your devices are affected. In some cases, updating a device's firmware or embedded application may restore support, while other devices may require a different path forward.

PaperCut v26 focuses on improving authentication, expanding support for newer hardware, and simplifying print deployment. While these changes may not affect every organization in the same way, they're worth understanding before planning an upgrade.
As with any major software update, reviewing the release notes and confirming compatibility with your environment can help make the upgrade process as smooth as possible.
